PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness College and Careers)

The PARCC (Partnership of Assessment and Readiness for College Career is a test that is part of the common core testing consortias. The primary purpose of PARCC is to provide high-quality assessments to measure students’ progress toward college and career readiness. Louisiana is a part of the PARCC consortium as a "Hybrid" state (as opposed to a "Governing" state, such as Colorado).

Louisiana will not be using PARCC for the 2015-2016 academic year.  Per House Bill 542, the Louisiana Dept. of Ed. is:

  • Prohibited from contracting with PARCC for assessments administered during the 2015-2016 academic year.
  • Must contract with another vendor for assessments for grades 3-10 in ELA and Math for the 2015-2016 academic year.
  • Must limit assessment questions to not more than 49.9% based on a blueprint developed by PARCC or any other consortium funded by either the federal government or a political advocacy organization.

The test includes the following subjects: English Language Arts (reported separately as Reading and Writing) and Mathematics.

PARCC 2014-2015 was divided into two administrations: Phase 1: Performance-Based Assessment (PBA) and Phase 2: End of Year (EOY).

Administrations

The administrations of 2014-2015 Louisiana PARCC were divided into two Phases:

  • Phase I: Performance-Based Assessment (PBA) - Administered March 16-20, 2015 with makeup dates of March 23 and 24, 2015.
  • Phase II: End of Year (EOY) - Administered May 4-7, 2015 with makeup dates of May 8, 10, and 11, 2015.

Performance Levels are called Performance Levels for PARCC. The Scale Score range is between 650-850 (see above).

Claims are referred to as "Reporting Categories" in Louisiana.

ELA has 7 Reporting Categories for all grade levels, and Math has 4 Reporting Categories for all grade levels.

There are no Scale Scores for Reporting Categories, only Performance Levels are reported. There are 3 Performance Levels, as seen above.
